1988 Jeep Cherokee 4.5 Lift

by Camron Bell
(Chilliwack, BC Cananda)

My Rig

My Rig

I own a lifted '88 Jeep Cherokee that I love. I use it as a daily driver and weekend bush buggy.

Living in Chilliwack, British Columbia we encounter lots of snow and adverse driving conditions and my Cherokee has never let me down.

Larry's Comment: Camron...if you follow this website at all you know how much I love these old XJ Cherokees.

The XJ was the best compromise built by Jeep, offering a good off road vehicle and a fine all-purpose SUV...all at a reasonable price to boot.

Even though Jeep made a lot of these great Cherokee 4x4's we need to take care of them. They will last a long time if treated with some respect and not abused.

Your '88 looks good Camron!

'88 Jeep Cherokee

Thanks Larry. I just started looking at your site and find it well put together. As for my Jeep it has been great to me and the wife. We go everywhere here on the "Wet Coast". I bought it sometime ago and have lifted it and replaced the motor. I am having a few issues with fuel mileage and rough idling so I think it`s time for a tune-up and follow the directions you gave me. Do you have a place on your site for people to post there trips and pic`s?

Larry's Comment: Thanks Camron. If your travel photos and stories are Jeep related you can place them here if you like:

New parts

Well I just upgraded the tires to 31X10.5X15 Nokian Vitivas and put lights on the roof rack, new exhaust manifold and rear leaf springs (saggy Bum). Seems to be common in the Cherokee's I've seen. Going to be upgrading all my shocks to give my rig more flex, then after that it's a full interior tear down and convert the rear to a bed and storage for the long trips up country.
