2010 Liberty a Mixed Bag

The 2010 liberty is good for pulling the camper and getting through bad roads in winter. So far I think the 4-Wheel Drive mechanicals are doing what you would expect. Far better than the vacuum engage drives some manufacturers used years ago.

Now for the bad news. Who thought a plastic front bumper and molding was a good idea? Fire him.

Next, the computer systems control too much, and in some cases it's almost caused an accident. My wife hit some black ice and spun around (in 4WD). The computer refused to engage the transmission so she could continue driving. She had to shut the engine off and restart it before it could move. Good thing nobody was around.

I've also lost the use of the horn after trying to scare a deer off the road. After a solid 10 second blast it shut off. It came back after about 3 or 4 minutes of driving. Neither of these computer lock out issues resulted in a safe driving situation.

I think Jeep (Chrysler) should take a good hard look at fixing some of the safety problems they've made before someone gets hurt.

To answer your question: yes, it's the wife's Jeep.

Larry's Comment: Gary...I'm with you on the over-dependence of computer technology. It is often more of a problem than a benefit.

And "plastic bumpers" on any Jeep is just...well...wrong.

Cruise Control
by: Anonymous

I agree that too cutesy computer gimmicks are not performing their assigned tasks well and in addition are creating distracting situations; when you can least afford it. Let me add that you should never use "cruise control" on rainy, snowy or hydroplaning conditions. It can be a fatal mistake.
