The Jeep Experience Newsletter, Issue #011
January 14, 2009
Hi ,

Hope you had a great Christmas and New Year!

A lot happened in 2008:

  • ragingly high gas prices
  • more political and cultural unrest throughout the world
  • U.S. economic meltdown
  • turnover of political power, and on top of all that
  • the Jeep division of Chrysler, LLC may be sold off to foreign interests such as India and/or Japan

With all due respect to foreign automotive companies I believe that losing the Jeep as an American Icon would be a travesty.

What has made Jeep unique is it's long American history, heritage and classic style. If Chrysler/Cerberus has no respect for traditions, then maybe they should crumble...especially since they and the other major American auto companies (including their union leaders) brought all of this on themselves due to greed and self-interests.

Either way I would like to see the classic Jeep somehow survive as an American made vehicle.

I know that foreign companies like Mahindra and Mahindra in India have been licensed there to build Jeeps in various versions for a long time...and that's fine. I would just hate to see our beloved American Jeep sold off due to greed and lack of respect for we loyal fans. Jeep has a huge loyal following in the new and used vehicle markets, and I don't know about you but I would be quite upset to lose the American made Jeep.

So, if you agree check out the various blogs and websites on this subject and leave your comments. That's the best way to get the word out to the masses. You can check out the latest news at my Jeep News page. The news there is automatically updated.
