A Matched Pair of Jeeps
My Jeeps
I have a 2003 Wrangler and a 1988 Comanche. I got the Wrangler a year and a half ago. It took me a while to find a hardtop which is a good thing since in Utah it snows during the winter.
I bought the MJ in Florida. I was looking for a Bronco but 4 wheelers were hard to find there, so I got the Jeep. I am glad I did because my dad and brother bought the small Chevy and Fords, and both of them are in the junk yard now.
It is nice to have identical drive trains. I also like the maneuverability of the TJ. I have three sets of doors and a bikini top. I made pipe doors, a hood-mounted high-lift jack, and bumpers so far.
I wish they would use lower axle gears as the 3.07 are almost useless at high altitude.Other than than that I have few complaints.
They are easy to understand, fix and modify. I could have got a newer model, but didn't like what the Germans did to them.
Future plans include 31" tires, moderate lift and a trailer (I have a combination hitch on it). The TJ is my daily driver and my MJ will be my Long Range Desert traveler.
Larry's Comment: Nice combination there! The Wrangler TJ and Comanche MJ make an awesome duo.
