hummer-cool-factor

I Rest My Case

I Rest My Case

The Jeep has certainly been around a long time and has starred in a number of tv shows and movies such as MASH, The Gods Must Be Crazy, and any World War II movie. In The Gods Must Be Crazy, the driver sat on the hood and steered from there, so I guess the Jeep gets the award for more original driving possibilities. But the modern Jeep models just don't have the cool factor of a Hummer. I like the really big Hummers with their grills on the front. They look like a tough car that could take driving off road and up the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, where I like to go. I'm not as fond of Hummer Lite--the baby Hummers they make these days because they don't have the distinctive styling of the big Hummer. Another thing about the Hummer is that it is warm in the winter. The coolest Jeeps are the ones with the removable top and doors, made out of plastic and fabric. They are real cool--especially when it is 20 below, early in the morning, and you have to drive 20 miles. Not good. The Hummer, I'm sure, has a great heating system which would make those cold winter mornings easier to take. The Jeep is easier to parallel park on a city street--at least the small ones are--but who is going to mess with a Hummer? Just run over that Toyota Yaris in front of you and the parking space is yours! Can't do that in a Jeep! In short--maybe the Jeep is more practical. But who wants a practical status symbol?
