I Help Injured Soldiers at the VA Hospital

by Alicia
(Los Angeles, CA)

I have always had a deep support and loyalty to the brave men and women who serve and protect this country in a military capacity. Both of my grandfathers served in World War II and instilled in me how critical it is for the troops to know and actively feel our support of them. Because of the way we were raised, I now have two cousins in the military, who are bravely fighting overseas in the Iraq War. Through my cousins, I met many of the men and women they serve with and have become actively involved in our local VA branch.

I volunteer at the VA hospital twice a month. I help injured soldiers with their paperwork, transportation around the city, pass out and recommend reading material and attend fund-raising activities when able. These honorable people who have sacrificed so much to protect and serve this country are amazing, and it has been an honor and privilege getting to know them and helping them in whatever way I can. Some of them have become some of my closest friends, and I even met my fiancé, a former Marine, through my friends at the VA.

There is not enough support, love and assistance that we can give our troops to thank them for everything that they have done for us.

Larry's Comment: Alicia...thank you for your support of our troops and God Bless!
