Love my '91 Wrangler Islander

by John
(Moraga, CA)

I have a 91 Jeep Wrangler Islander. It is a 4 Wheel Drive with a 4.0 Liter engine and standard transmission. As of now it has almost 200,000 miles on it, and still has good compression and runs really good. I use to do alot of 4 wheeling with it when it was a bit younger. I drove it to Alaska and back 2 times with no problems and it was extremely reliable. When I get free time, I love to take it on a number of off road trails around the Lake Tahoe area. I haven't gone off roading in a while and mainly use it around town for transportation purposes. I love driving the Jeep around in the summer time with no top and doors smelling the fresh air blowing from the pine trees.

However just for driving it around town its not very practical with the large mud terrain tires and the amount of gas it consumes. I fill it up about 1x a week at about $50.00 dollars and that will last me about a week of basic around town driving. I haven't had many major problems that I can think of other than some minor repairs and it's still running strong at 200,000 miles.

I wouldn't trade it for anything.
