Miss my '79 CJ5

by Dave G.
(NJ, USA)

I used to drive a 1979 Jeep CJ5 and man, I did love that car! It came with the works, a 232 inline 6, a dana 60 axle, and an AMC 40 rear axle.

I originally received the car in an off tint black color, but I painted it myself in a very nice deep forest green color. I replaced the roll bar because it was getting a tad bit old and it looked rather unsafe. It was replaced with 5 point harness attachment bar. Also, the top was a bit tattered so I replaced it with a Bestop Black tiger top! After I was done with it, it looked brand spankin' new.

The best thing about this car was that it could take quite a lot of shock absorption and I loved to do off roading. Because of the abuse it took, it became unreliable and I sold it off approximately 5 years ago.

I received this car as a gift and man do I miss it!
