More Jeeps in Goa (and India)

by Charles
(Goa / India)

Mahindra 2wd CJ

Mahindra 2wd CJ

Mahindra 2wd CJ Udaipur (Willys?) Same Willys Jeep Trailer (?)

Hi again - thought you'd like some more Mahindra photos. The maroon CJ is another of mine, again 2-wheel drive with the International B275 engine and 3-speed gearbox (the soft top is on just now as it is monsoon time - boy can it rain here - you would not want to be caught out without a top on.)

This one is slightly later at 1986 and has the extended front mudguards and plastic bolt on wheel well extensions and a plastic dashboard (not nice!)

I also enclose 2 photos taken at the collection of the Maharaja in Udaipur in Rajasthan. The Jeep was said to be an original Willys (but I'm not sure - will bow to someone with greater knowledge than me - note the split windscreen).

The trailer was also said to be original (?) It certainly doesn't look like an Indian made copy. the tow-bar mechanism looks too sophisticated to have been made locally in India at that time. Anyone know anything about these?

If anyone wants some further info about Mahindra Jeeps, especially the earlier straight bonnet type, they can contact me and I'll do my best, but there is very little written history that I can find.
