The M&M CJ340DP is the elder brother of M&M CL340DP 4WD Classic which was manufactured by Mahindra till 2000. The M&M CJ340 was made between 1987-1994.

Starting 1995 the CJ340 was renamed as CL340 with no other difference (the CJ initials are owned by Chrysler Group, the owner of the Jeep brand, who asked M&M to stop using it).

In late 1996, the CL340 underwent some modification and became Classic, including addition of disk-brakes, chrome plated 2 piece Front bull bar, Bucket seat with belts, rollover bar, etc.

Larry's Comment: Thanks for the extensive details on your very nice M & M CJ340.

Highway handling?
by: Mike

I notice you don't have real aggressive off road tires so I'm assuming you use your Jeep for a lot of highway driving.

My question is how does that diesel engine handle highway speeds and have you done any towing with it?

By the way it is a sweet looking Jeep, I have always been a fan of the CJ-3B body style no matter who built it.

Mahindra CJ 340 4X4
by: vikram

Hi! I own a Mahindra CJ 340 4x4 Jeep(1993 Model).I have maintained it well FOR THE LAST 17 YEARS and have not made too many modifications to the original structure .

It has had a paint job once but even that I got done in the MAHINDRA WORKSHOP.I have had to change some parts because of wear and tear. It is next to impossible to find genuine spares as MAHINDRA STOPPED manufacturing them a long time back.

I WANTED TO KNOW the MAX. SIZE/Width OF TUBELESS TYRES THAT I CAN FIT INTO THE 15 INCH ORIGINAL RIM, or will I have to go for new alloy wheels? I somehow prefer original white colored rims that came with the vehicle.

Kindly advise...

What is the engine?

If one were to buy CJ3B from Military auctions now, what would be its engine?

I want one!

Is it possible to get one in the U.S.?

Hi Vikram,

Original rims will not be able to accommodate larger tires and it is best to leave it for NDMS tires. If at all you need to put larger tires, you will have to shift to alloy wheels. The rim width not being sufficient to mount larger tires will start pinching the tire edges thereby reducing the tire life.

Is the CJ 340 also called a Willys low bonnet?
