My Third "J"

2000 TJ Sahara

2000 TJ Sahara

My first "J" was a 1977 SJ Wagoneer. My second was a 1999 XJ Cherokee Sport. I finally bought the one style I always wanted and it happens to be a 2000 TJ Sahara.

I don't usually buy a first year anything (2000 was the first year of the quad-coil suspension) but considering this little gem was towed for most of its 164K miles, I couldn't pass it up.

What a great platform to begin with for my own personal mods. When I'm not driving my big rig, I'm driving my TJ everywhere. It's a dream come true and fun to drive!

Larry's Comment: Nice looking TJ! One slight correction though...the 1997 TJ was the first year for the quadra-coil suspension. So your '00 Wrangler was not the first, but has benefited by 3 years of testing on this system.

Correct!
by: Smitty

I stand corrected. When writing this I was thinking of the suspension but started to write in the change in the engine and the transmission for 2000, thus ending up making the mistake on the suspension. Never drink and write when tired.

The Future of "Terra Jean"
by: Smitty

Some like their Jeeps and some hear their names. I'm of the latter. Terra Jean came to my mind today as I was thinking of the capabilities and purpose of a vehicle like this. I've always seen them do amazing things in both stock and modified form. I've read about their accomplishments and features of engineering by their owners. Then it dawned on me that what they do is "on" the Earth. Not above it and rarely below the surface. it separates the other vehicles that really do require a prepared surface to function properly. Terra was fairly easy as the vehicle was designed to operate off-road. The name means Earth. Jean just came about because a lot of women I know are named with a hyphened second name or use their second name with the first as a matter of course. Jean means "God's grace" in Hebrew. So it stood to reason the name of this TJ mean's to "Travel the Earth by God's grace." - Amen.
