Need Help with Jeep Liberty tire eatin Rock Krawler lift kit

by Wes
(Woodland Park, Colorado)

Wife wanted a Liberty.... I told her it had to be lifted... found one, it was already lifted. We bought it. We were impressed with the "Rock Krawler" lift kit.

We were WRONG. Six months later and two sets of tires down, we thought there might be something wrong. So the research began and so did the laughter.

We were told we had points for style but the independent front suspension had to go, and we lost more points than we had to begin with. And then while in the middle of moving to a new house, while I was conveniently out of town..... a very important nut fell out of the front end and the entire damn car dropped on the drivers side..ripping the brand new rack and pinion apart that I had just put in..not to mention ripping the cv axle out. The wife was bummed.

Currently I am working on a solid axle swap. HELP! I have gotten as far as reinforcing the frame with 1/4 inch plate and am still working out the four link. Not sure which way to go. I will be using coil-overs and trying to figure out if I should use a track bar.

If you have suggestions my email is weslindh@yahoo.com

Larry's Comment: What a nightmare Wes! I am always leery of getting any vehicle with a suspension or body lift already there. You never know if it was professionally set up or done by amateurs.

Anyone out there able to help Wes with his solid axle conversion can contact him directly at his request.
