Off Road Trucks: The Scarce Jeeps!

J.G.'s 1975 Jeep J20 Pickup...click photo!
Off road trucks conjure up visions of tricked out pickups of all sizes and shapes either screaming through the desert waste lands, climbing near vertical hills, creeping through boulders or splashing through mud bogs...like a Sumo wrestler doing cannonballs in a 3-foot pool.
Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Toyota, Nissan and other modern trucks tend to dominate in the hardcore off road 4x4 trucks categories...as well as everyday outings of those who simply love to camp, fish or explore in their off road trucks.
Now, think back to 1992 when the last Jeep pickup was produced. What if the Jeep division (of whoever might own Jeep at the time) had not quit making fine pickups?

Would these trucks be competing with the big boys today?
I don't know, but what I do know is that many Jeep trucks dating back to the late 1940's up to that last Comanche MJ in 1992 are still rolling on asphalt and dirt roads all over the world. I still see the occasional restored M35A2 6x6 military rig grinding down the road, and the rough but tough J10 or J20 as well.
So what is the point of bringing this up now?
Those who own these aging Jeep trucks are a very special breed who appreciate a good thing when they see it...and more so when they own it.
