Off roading on public land debates

by LHM
(Texas)

If we have "public land" doesn't that mean that we the "public" own the rights to use that land within reason. The environmentalist always seem to go overboard with just about everything these days. I can see how a few stupid Jeep, trail bike and 4 wheelers can do some damage on the trails, but that's no reason to shut all of us out. Some campers and hikers cause as much damage to the parks by leaving trash and feeding the wildlife or starting wildfires from carelessness. Most off road people I know have respect for the land. The public lands belong to all of us and not just some environmentalist maniacs.

Who cares?

I like to take my Jeep into beautiful places in the country, the mountains and the desert.

I am respectful to the environment no matter what the tree huggers say. Sure have reasonable controls, but don't take away our rights to enjoy this country the way we choose either.
