Operation Paperback

Our Family
I am not in the military, but have relatives and in-laws who have served our country. This includes both of my grandfathers, who served in World War Two and cousins who have served more recently. One way I support our troops is through Operation Paperback. This volunteer organization sends new and used books to our troops in the field and far from home. Operation Paperback collects request lists from the troops, which it then filters and forwards to those who have offered to volunteer to send books. Donors then send the books they've collected straight to the soldiers. They accept money (which goes for postage) and postage stamps. This organization has absolutely no overhead costs or salaried staff.
As a science fiction and horror author, I've sent signed copies of my books "Humanity's Edge" and "Sirat: Through the Fires of Hell" directly to a number of our soldiers. Imagine the reaction of a postal clerk (you can only send to the APO addresses via the US postal service) for a stack of "media mail" envelopes going to Afghanistan and Iraq. Operation Paperback allows me to directly reach out and make life a little better for those risking their lives to keep me and my family safe.
Larry's Comment: Tamara...God Bless you and your family for supporting the troops.
