1945 Willys CJ2 (File Photo)
I bought my CJ2 Willys/Jeep near Camp Shelby, MS from someone that worked there for over thirty years.
It is an early CJ2 with indents for axe and shovel. There are no ID plates to date the Jeep, but the interesting thing about this jeep is the original color is OD green, a color that was not part of the civilian color scheme.
Under the Jeep, as well as behind the headlight ring covers is the original color and it also has engine parts that are clearly military, like the air cleaner. It also has a winch which looks original. Won't know until I do some restoration work this winter.
It's fun to drive and will be handed down to the grandkids who love it.
Anyone with any info on my Jeep email me at ronhess56@yahoo.com
Larry's Comment: Photos would be helpful Ron.
According to my research the CJ2 shared many components with the military MB and GPW, but was a mostly new design. However, the CJ2 was originally designed with a tailgate, 5.38 gears, the T-90 transmission with column shift, drawbar, PTO and governors.
The CJ2 was called "AgriJeep" due to it's intended farm use.
