Supplied Kevlar Vests to my Friends Troop
by Charles
(Orlando, Florida)
My name is Charles, I am 22, and live in Orlando, Florida. I have never been a member of the military, as my health would surely not be good enough for me to gain entry. I would have strongly considered it otherwise. However, I have ardent support for our troops and the sacrifices they make, even if I am not a fan of the particular war they are fighting. One of my closest friends, someone I’ve known since I was 12 years old, served in the Marines in Iraq. His name is Howard. I always knew he was noble, but I didn’t realize the extent until I had a long conversation after he returned home. I have another friend who will be deployed to Iraq in the very near future. One of my closest friends is pondering joining the army, and I do not want him to do so.
In terms of how I have supported the troops, I have purchased Kevlar vests and mailed them to my friends troop, because they were receiving relatively poor quality armor. This was, of course, before military issue armor became required.
Larry's Comment: Charles...you are a good American and friend to your buddies. Thanks
