Throwing A Fit Pays! Got A '57 Willys!

by Smokey
(NW Montana)

'57 Willys Jeep at my son's place

'57 Willys Jeep at my son's place

Some years back I got involved in a trade for some collectible, shoot-able, highly desirable pre-1945 rifles. (That's no bull).

The other fellow wanted my '47 CJ2A and I caved... much to my everlasting regret.

So every once in a while I would throw myself down on the ground and cause a scene. At last my oldest son took pity and located a '57 Willys that was in pretty good shape. I agreed to stop throwing myself down on the ground and he turned over the keys.

I, of course, immediately contracted some dread disease and am only now able to start getting it back to what it should really look like.

The outside is fairly untouched but the inside had been 'upgraded' with electronics and such. I tore all the garbage out and have replicated what it is supposed to look like... at least what I think it should look like.

Thank goodness they had not fooled around with the seats. The tires have been changed to very narrow 16s and the game rack has come off the back. (The fender flares are gone as well.)

Since I live in a river valley where the land gets vertical very fast, my new friend should be right at home.

Larry's Comment: So do you think if I throw a fall down, cry-baby tantrum my wife will buy me that new Wrangler Rubicon I've been wanting?

Nope, I don't think so either.

Glad you got yours though. Nice looking CJ5 from what I can tell by the photo.

Too Dangerous

Glad you like the look of the CJ Larry.

As for the rest... poetic license. Sorry I bothered.

Very Nice Jeep with Meyer Hard Top
by: Alain

I have exactly the same hard top on my CJ5. It seems in good condition.

Many of these Meyer hard tops are rusting very fast, so take care...

Other problem is: very heavy.

I put a hook in the center (gravity center) so I can take if off easily with a pulley, it waits up in my barn.

In my opinion it is the only solution, the hook is very discrete, and resistant.
