Trying to please the wife and still get a 7 slot grill:)

by Leon
(Ohio)

When I moved from TX to OH I had a little Nissan Altima and it was a great car, got me around, and gave me great gas mileage. But then the first real winter storm road through and I ended up stuck several times and I just got tired. I then told my wife that I was getting a 4 wheel drive vehicle. She grumpily agreed and we went out shopping.

I personally wanted nothing more than a Wrangler, but with a new addition to our family on the way she quickly turned it down. She hated the Cherokee's and thought the Patriots were too big.

Then we came across an '02 blue Liberty and she fell in love with it. At first I wasn't as excited as her but after driving it I quickly changed my mind.

The Liberty is quick, easy to drive, and very responsive. I wanted to try the 4x4 real bad, and luckily 3 days after our purchase another snow storm came though, and it was my day off, so I drove out to my in-laws farm and tore up the corn field.

Everyone laughed when I showed up with the liberty and the puny 3.7 liter engine, but I drove into the thick of the snow and mud and came out unscathed. I'm going to note that I had to pull out a Ford "powerstroke" from the snow, and the laughs quickly seized.

I do admit that the Liberty looks like something a prissy California girl would drive, but it's still a Jeep. I have big plans for the liberty, the 2" lift, 31" tires, mean custom brush guard, rear bumper guards, and some other additions.

Pretty soon this puppy is going to be going to mud runs and proving that even though its cute, it can still hold its own. By the way, remember the title of this story was trying to please the wife, well when she drove it the morning of the snow fall, she called me 5 mins. later giddy like a school girl saying that she could actually move.

So now I've converted an ex Ford fan to JEEP.

Larry's Comment: Sounds like you've been "converted" as well Leon. Great story!
