1946 CJ2A with column shift
by anonymous
I purchased the '46 CJ2A Willys in 1983 from the grandson of the original owner who lived in San Bernardino, California and he had purchased it new in April 1946 It was manufactured 10 Oct 1945. I have the original title. The Jeep had 35,000 miles on the odometer, it is unrestored and the color is original other than the wheels; which were yellow. The engine is the original 134Cu.In. 4cylinder Willys with a standard bore. Exterior was repainted and engine compartment fire wall was waxed. The metal was thick enough so that all holes were filled with a mig welder. The engine had a valve job, new rings & bearings. The radiator is original as is everything else including the wiring harness. In spite of being old,the jeep is very smooth in driving. The engine sounds great and everything is in perfect condition. Addition/changes: Roll Bar, Bikini Top, Flush Mount tail lights, GM internally regulated alternator, Pertronix Ign. & coil 12Volt. It is unique in that it is a column shift, rather than a floor shift. I spent 20years looking for a Jeep CJ like the one I finally found (all original & no rust) just the one I had waited for.
