Mostly Prefer Newer Jeeps

by Sam
(Providence, RI)

I have a preference for the ('87-'08) Jeeps .

I especially prefer the ('97-'06) TJ. I like the stance, (narrower compared to the new JK) and I like the coil suspension and the original I-6 engine.

While not sexy, the newer Jeeps also have nice "comfort" features like air bags, better seat belts, and stereo/CD.

I wish all the Jeeps came with more secure compartments. I've replaced my glove box with a metal glove box that's more secure and would like to do the same with my center console in the future.

I also like the early Grand Cherokees, though perhaps because they conjure up nostalgic memories from high school and country wheelin' in small town PA.

The only early Jeep I have affection for is the Jeepster Commando because of the sloping back and my experience with my scoutmasters' (he collected several of this model).

I currently drive a 2004, TJ Willys, I-4, with Rhino lined interior and a Tuffy glove box.
