SFL Jeep YJ/TJ owner

by CJ
(SFL)

I have had CJs, YJs and TJs. I currently have a 92 YJ 6cyl auto, and a 98 4cyl auto TJ.

I wheel my YJ regularly in the swamps and sand, etc. in SFL. I love the Jeeps. I do miss my old CJs. (85 Golden Eagle and an 80 lifted monster)

What I want to know is why did Jeep put the breather for the transmission so low and not put a breather tube on it. I have had to change my trans fluid out so many times it's stupid. This is an off road Jeep. Right???

I am going to be pulling my 92 trans out shortly to correct this... A lot of work for something so simple that could have been done at the factory...

Other than that I find them very good off road. I do not have a lift and I keep up with the lifted Jeeps. But I know my limits.

Larry's Comment: Hey CJ is that "SFL" South Florida?...and are your initials really CJ?

As far as the transmission vent goes...I have never had ANY vehicle (Jeep or otherwise) that didn't have some of the dumbest engineering imaginable. I guess that is what keeps the "aftermarket" folks going!
