I bought my '05 Liberty after coming back from Iraq.
I wanted something with 4wd and something that I haven't seen lifted a whole lot. I am pretty satisfied with its manners off the road and for the most part on the road as well.
I have taken it off road a few times, through mud holes and on some trails, and never had any problems with getting it stuck.
The thing I hate the most about this Jeep is the fact that you can't lift it more than 2.5in without the worry of breaking your front diff.
I really would like to find out about swapping to a solid front axle. Anyone with input on how to do this please contact me at rblsoldier@gmail.com.
I'm going wheeling this weekend in the Uwharrie National Forest...wish me luck.
Larry's Comment: First of all Ray I want to thank you for your service to our country. You didn't say you were in the military specifically, but by your email address I am making that assumption.
For discussions about Solid Front Axle swaps for KJ Liberty's take a look at this forum:

And if you get a chance send us an actual photo of your '05 Liberty.
