Military Jeep a New Adventure for Me

I have no experience with military vehicles, but have restored many antique automobiles.

I got the opportunity to purchase a military Jeep yesterday, and am anxious to learn all I can about it and bring the old rusty and abused Jeep back to a respectable life.

I believe this is an M38A1. It has the single windshield and the long battery box for 24-volt system on the cowling of the passenger side. It seems fairly complete, with the original lights and glass, gauges, etc.

I have much to learn, which is why I am interested in restoring it. I understand there is a huge resource of knowledge and parts available to help me with this project. I am anxious to get started! (I will send pictures later)

Larry's Comment: Darrell...look forward to photos and updates on your project Jeep.

M38 A1

I have a CJ5, the civilian sister.

It is a wonderful car to visit a place using small roads...but it is a high and narrow, short car.

It can roll over easily, do not try it on dangerous ways, or train to jump out very fast.

That looks like the M38A1. Does it have the funky light switch so you can set the night lights? I remember going on night drives in the M38A1 with just the little night lights on...what a chore.
