Jeep and I

The jeep had blue gvt(Police?) plates and as best as I can decipher the serial number is:

JH4-3122236 with engine number 133090G73

I've had the official paperwork in my hands a couple of times. But, they are in the process of doing the new title, etc.

The plates shown are paper temporary plates. I do have the real plates now.

The Jeep was sold to me as an American CJ-4. Aside from some prototypes, the only "CJ4" jeeps seem to have been made by Mahindra. Info translated from Vietnamese title and Inspection paper

Brand: Jeep
Year of manufacture: 1970
Country of manufacture USA
Tare weight 976 KG
Engine number JH4-3122236
Chassis number 133090G73

This seems more likely to be a Kaiser Jeep from the numbering system. from my military time in Viet Nam 1969-1972, the CJ Jeeps were very popular with contractors, Agency, USAID, Embassy personal and others as they were much less expensive than the MUTT-151s.

Note this Jeep has been extensively modified over the years by the Vietnamese Government. It has an alternator, roll bar, power brakes, a Honda steering column and many other safety and usability changes. This was a Vietnamese government Jeep from about 1975 till last month.

Not a Mahindra

This is definately not a Mahindra. This design of the jeep bonnet did not come to Mahindra till they made a CJ 540 around 1984.
