1982 CJ7 Renegade

by Heath Mohr
(Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, Canada)

I bought my '82 Jeep CJ7 Renegade when I was 17 years old. Unfortunately, I had a little too much fun with it and pretty much destroyed it before my 19th birthday.

When I turned 31 I resurrected the old girl and gave it a complete frame off restoration in my garage. I added a few things such as a fuel injected 350 V8 and a TH400 tranny with B&M floor shifter. I kept the dana 300 transfer case.

It also has 37" Toyo tires, American Racing wheels, a 4" suspension lift and a 2" body lift, Corbeau Racing Seats with Harnesses and a Bestop Supertop and Doors. It received a fresh coat of custom paint and I added the custom decals for good measure.

Now my Jeep is my favorite toy and gets lots of looks. It has received many awards at numerous car shows, but I still drive it like it was meant to be driven. I still want to upgrade the axles to Dana 44s and I haven't figured out what I want for bumpers and steps yet, but I will post more pics once they are installed.

Larry's Comment: That's a very nice looking Renegade, Heath.

I'll bet it screams down the road with that 350 V8.

Very nice looking rig. Just a thought! Have you checked into the one peace axle assy. for the 20 rear end? That makes them as strong as the 44s. I really like your rig...

NICE JEEP

The Jeep is looking real good. These Jeeps are the angels of the bygone days. If you fit slightly over sized tyres on them and do not proportionally
increase the engine power and beef up the suspension and transmission the Jeep tends to show lack of drivability especially while off road. So,lot of planning and possibly technical consultation has to go in before modification. Happy driving.
